For Homeowners / What's Covered

Here is exactly what your plan covers.

Parts. Labor. An Equipment Replacement Credit if your system ever needs replacement instead of repair. Coverage for the full plan term, not a partial manufacturer window. Typically around twenty-five cents a day.

What your plan covers.

Your Journey plan covers the parts that fail on an HVAC system and the labor to fix them. Coverage runs for the full plan term your dealer activated. Manufacturer warranties usually cover parts for a few years and leave labor to you. Journey closes that gap.

The coverage is written into the plan terms your dealer walks you through. The list below is what the plan is built to handle.

Parts covered

  • Compressor
  • Condenser coil and evaporator coil
  • Blower motor and fan motor
  • Circuit boards and control boards
  • Capacitors, contactors, and relays
  • Thermostats installed with the system
  • Refrigerant metering components (TXV, expansion valves)
  • Heat exchanger
  • Defrost controls and sensors
  • Gas valves and ignition components (on heating systems)

Labor covered

  • Diagnostic time to identify the failure
  • Service call to dispatch your dealer's technician
  • Removal and installation labor for covered parts
  • Refrigerant recovery and recharge tied to a covered repair
  • Re-test and system start-up after the repair
  • Return visits if the original repair needs follow-up

The Equipment Replacement Credit: when repair stops making sense.

Sometimes a repair costs more than the system is worth. A compressor on an older unit, a heat exchanger crack, a full refrigerant circuit failure: any of those can push the repair quote past the value of the equipment. At that point, replacement makes more sense than repair.

If your system reaches that point during your plan term, the Equipment Replacement Credit applies toward a new install through your dealer. You do not start over on pricing from scratch. The Credit is written into the plan, not offered as an upsell later.

Your dealer evaluates the system and submits the claim. Journey processes the replacement path with the plan provider. The same dealer who sold you the plan is the one who installs the replacement.

What your plan does not cover.

The plan covers the HVAC system your dealer installed or services. It does not cover every possible home repair. The list below is what falls outside of the plan, in plain language. Read the plan terms your dealer provides for the full legal version.

  • Routine maintenance (tune-ups, filter changes, coil cleaning)
  • Damage from flooding, fire, lightning, or other acts of nature
  • Damage from unauthorized modifications or repairs by a non-Journey technician
  • Cosmetic wear on cabinets or exterior housings
  • Ductwork outside the equipment itself
  • Consumable items (filters, batteries, humidifier pads)
  • Failures caused by improper installation by a party other than your Journey dealer
  • Pre-existing issues known at the time of plan activation
  • Commercial use of residential equipment

Every protection plan has limits. The reason this list is here, on the coverage page, is so the homeowner sees it before activation, not after a claim. Your dealer answers any gray-area questions during plan setup.
